MEET & GREET
Who is this guy?
I'm a 28 year old aspiring full-time web designer from Oceanside, Ca. After 24 years of roasting in Rancho Cucamonga, I chased a girl, now my wife, down to North County San Diego. Permanently escaping the fiery belly of the Inland Empire for good. It was just what I needed.
So... Anything else?
I have always been a creative individual and usually spent more hours in school sketching than studying. With dollar signs in mind and the status quo at my back; rather than following my creative passion in college, I went down the business route to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Finance. After four successful years in finance, the lack of creativity has pulled me back to where I belong. I've always loved technology and new-fangled gadgetry. In 2007 I began studying web design and development online at Foothill College as well as on Google. Only one course, that is seemingly never offered online, separates me from finishing my certificate program in AJAX Web Development & Design. I've learned a lot since 2007, most of it self-taught. My incessant research and enthusiasm helps me find new ways to do things better every day.
What makes you different than that other guy/gal building websites?
I can undoubtedly quote more movie lines than him or her, and furthermore, I am absolutely obsessed with design and usability. I'm not sure if this is something to brag about; but my Google Reader is the ultimate evolving textbook for web design and kicking-ass in general on the web. I spend a lot of time every single day picking up on what the design industry is laying down. My style and skillset is rapidly expanding and flexible.
So how much can you bench?
I've got a death grip on HTML/CSS and Javascript. jQuery is my framework of choice. I'm proficient in PHP/MySQL and I bend WordPress to my will whenever necessary. I love working in Terminal, even on little stuff. It makes me feel like I'm in the Matrix. I do everything on my MacBook Pro and Coda is my text-editor of choice. Photoshop is a second home to me. I'd also like to do a (very simple) project using Ruby on Rails whenever possible. It would be a fun new challenge.
